Welcome to Class 3!
In Class 3 our Teacher is called Miss Brewster. We have a wonderful TA called Mr Kilmister who works with us every morning. At the moment, we have years 5 and 6 in our class, and we enjoy learning altogether. Some of our lessons are taught separately depending on how we need to learn.
We love to read, especially in our new Book Nook. We try very hard to be independent, and a lot of the year 6 children have their own jobs to help support the whole school. We love to have debates and discussions, especially in RE.
Every half term we learn through a different theme which is based on a book. So far this year we have learned about Refugees by reading The Boy at the Back of the class. We learned about where refugees come from in Geography, about historical immigration in history, and used the book as inspiration for our own writing.
At the moment we are basing our theme around Letters from the Lighthouse. We have been learning all about World War Two in history, and 6-figure grid references in Geography. We have been writing letters from the main character in our book and are writing our own evacuee stories.
In the Spring Term, we learnt all about our 'Wild Planet': using the book The Last Wild as our stimulus, we learned about evolution and inheritance in science, and thought about how different animals adapted to their environment. In our Geography lessons we looked at the environments of different areas across the world, and thought about the impact of climate change and changes caused by humans on both the animals and humans who live there.
This week your project is called Around the World. The learning activities include lots of different ideas for tasks to explore with your children.
This week, there is also a booklet attached with various cross-curricular activities linked to an around the world cycle attempt.
As well as attaching the project and files on this page, I will also send them out on Google Classrooms.
All files are attached below - as always I would love to see any of your work via email or Google Classrooms.
I will be available to contact during the day as usual. Although we have now finished the class book, we will still try to post a little something every day on Google Classrooms to enjoy at home.
Don't forget to look out for the Leavers video on Google Classrooms. It will be available at 6pm on Wednesday.
I hope that you enjoy this weeks project - I can't wait to hear what you are all up to.
